Fight for Time

Prayer Sisters, today I received news that reminded me why we do what we do. Why we sacrifice the time to get together to battle in prayer. Why we leave our kitchens dirty and laundry undone. Why we say no to other demands and opportunities, and make prayer our priority. Today a prodigal child returned home.

When my friend’s daughter walked away from God it nearly broke her mother’s heart. A wrestling match began, a young woman the prize. Satan on one side, my friend and her interceding friends on the other. No contest, really, considering the mighty power of God fueled our prayers. But was the fight easy or swift? Of course not. It was grueling, heart breaking, exhausting… and it took time.

Time. Not enough of it, we say. Too busy. I know. I really do get it.

Some days I compare my calendar to my to-do list and cry. How in the world can I get it all done? I’ll be honest with you. There are times when I absolutely can’t make it to Prayer Sisters to pray with my friends. On those days when I need to tend to the matters at hand, I trust in the grace of God and my forgiving Prayer Sisters for missing this week’s prayer time.

But I press on and make every effort to join my Prayer Sisters when I can.

Because… more than “just another thing,” praying together increases the power and effectiveness of our prayers. After praying with my dear friends, I have more strength, energy, confidence, hope, and peace than I’ve had all week. And more importantly, our prayers are at work, activating God’s will and purpose in our lives and the lives of those we pray for so passionately. Wrestling matches are won and lives are changed.

Girls, we need to fight for the time to pray. So we can fight in prayer.

Amen Kathy! There can be nothing more important and nothing more powerful. It is a weapon in our arsenal against the Enemy. Bless you dear Sister!

    Kathy,
Today after church, we sat around with coffee and muffins and listened to one of the congregation members reverberate the tale of the Montana State Class C Boys Basketball Tournement Championship game. Big Sandy’s team played for championship and it was an exciting last 4 minutes.. We could hardly wait for the story as today’s service was just getting over. Any closer to the edge of the seat we would have been in the row ahead of us. In the little croud that gathered there was a family that used to attend our church, but because of the miles traveled from home to church, they are attending a church in Havre. Anyways they were discussing a project that they have been working on for three years….. a prayer weekend: Starts on Thursday, ends on Sunday. No coming or going and it is not a cult. They have gone to one, witnessed the great power of prayer in a group.. They went home loving it. Today they were there just to invite us to the upcoming events…… They warned us though… The DEVIL will get involved,, he will be relentless. He will try to stop you in your tracks in any which way possible… IT will snow, it will rain, it will flood, you will get sick, you will have a flat tire, your cat will break down. a cow will have to have a c-section, you will have a change in meeting time: it is inevitable that he will stop you from coming to this gathering… So it is important to pray as a group about what things/events/people take you away from HIS TIME WITH YOU.

The pastor, in his wise sermon, spoke about material things getting in the way…. material things are the devils work and we need to pray that God is always there to tell us where we need to go and what we need to do. Don’t just put things down on a calender just because there is a date there. Take the time to schedule with HIM and IN HIM.
You have a cell phone,, call the circle of friends and hang on the phone with them as they pray… you might not be there physically, but you can at least hear them and pray with them… of course you are not allowed to do this while driving… that is a big no-no! That’s all I wanted to say.. Amen.

Linny, thank you for sharing your story. I especially like “call the circle of friends and hang on the phone with them as they pray…” Good advice! Many times we tell friends we will pray for them later, which is fine, but there is something powerful that happens when we stop what we’re doing and pray together right at the time.

Kathy, that little group that I mentioned, you’ll have to excuse the spelling errors….Creso, or treso? It is a Catholic tradition, and I have no clue how to spell it, let alone try to spell it phonically. Take care Bud,,, See what Senator Tester says about our Big Sandy State Champion Boys on Youtube.com Senator Tester honors Big Sandy Champions.. Yay… Yippy Yay. Yay. enough now.
