Several polls have been done that revealed the most common things people pray about.  The most common prayer requests involve family members.  That doesn’t seem surprising given that a lot of us worry and are concerned about those closest to us.  We want the best for our kids, spouses and everyone we love.

If you are new to prayer, praying for your family is a great place to start.  You probably know your family better than anyone else.  So if you know someone is going through a tough time or if they are going through a season of waiting, pray for those things.  Pray for God’s influence on their lives.

Your prayers can change their lives!
First off, pray for your husband! Besides Jesus, you are the best advocate in heaven your spouse will ever have!  Pray first, for a changed heart for you- that you can be a discerning wife, who will be a huge blessing to him! Then begin to pray for your husband!  There are many fantastic books on  praying for your husband, but our favorite is the Power of A Praying Wife, by Stormy OMartian. Pray for his protection (physical, emotional, spiritual), pray for God to strengthen his walk and to draw close to him. Pray for blessings in every area of his life- work, family, friends, financial, physical, emotional, spiritual. Pray that He will grow closer to the Lord every day and that he will be a good spiritual leader in your home. Pray that He will be a man of integrity and honor. Pray for his thought life and for his purity. Pray for protection from temptation. Pray for God to give him favor with others. And for the Lord to give him wisdom and discernment. Pray for joy, for peace and for unity in your marriage. Your prayers matter!
Then, pray for your children! You can begin praying for your children’s spouses too, before they are even born! Pray for protection over them spiritually, physically and emotionally. Pray for God to grow them into godly young men and women. You can begin praying scriptural blessings over them every day!  For salvation, for God’s love to flow from them, for them to have the fruit of the spirit- love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, goodness, Pray for them to have mercy and respect and love for others. Pray for them to be honest and trustworthy. Pray for direction in their lives and for guidance.
